We are a gathered people who have experienced being called out of darkness and into God’s marvelous light. As individuals who have been redeemed through faith in the gospel, we are compelled to reach the lost in our city who have yet to hear and believe the good news.
As a church, we seek to care for the city of Athens in the following ways:
As a church, we support local ministries and help love and serve Athens in various ways.
The Abundant Life Pregnancy Resource Center was born from the belief that every life, from the moment of conception, is precious and holds value.
They are committed to sharing the message of abundant life in Christ, in order to save the lives of unborn babies at the risk of abortion and help families develop healthy parenting skills. Their mission is to be a lifeline, for people experiencing pregnancy decisions and parenting needs, in a safe and encouraging environment. They are devoted to providing life-affirming choices by offering faith-based hope, support, and compassion to those in need.
The Baptist Student Ministry at TVCC is a community dedicated to following Jesus Christ and proclaiming Jesus’ name to our campus, Athens, our country, and the world. We do this by following Jesus’ commands to love God and to love our neighbors.
As a church, we help support this ministry by providing meals to the students who come.
Rekindle and establish the spirit of boys who have been abandoned by their fathers; mentoring them one-on-one in life skills through outdoor activities, and by sharing a Christian understanding of our Heavenly Father's love and sacrifice for His children.
Love in Action is a homeless day center that focuses on 4 basic services offering showers, laundry, lunch, food, and toiletry bags to-go. They offer a host of resources to help individuals get off the street into a stable living situation with personalized care for each individual’s needs.
We have partnered with this ministry by cooking and serving meals once a month.
The Food Pantry has been around since 1981 helping the community by offering food for those in need.
We are one of many churches that offer support through food drives and donations to serve those who are in need in Athens.
The Disaster Relief Ministry of the SBTC is a ministry comprised of trained volunteers who are committed to sharing the hope of Jesus with those whose lives have been impacted by disasters.
When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their safety, they are usually brought to a child welfare services office to await placement. This wait can be a few hours to several days. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothing.
Isaiah 117 provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait – a place that is safe with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need while child welfare staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good placement.
Every 3rd Sunday of the month, we go to Arabella of Athens Senior Living at 2pm to worship with the sweet older saints there. You are welcome to come and join us!
