Our philosophy of music ministry is that each song helps to build the congregation to not only learn about our faith through solid, biblically sound selections but also directs each individual to worship the Savior in a corporate environment as we experience scripture, prayer, and praise through song each week.
The Worship Choir is a big part of the music ministry at Lake Athens. Scripture tells us that there were dedicated individuals given to “music in the house of the Lord” (1 Chronicles 25) and we find that all through the Scriptures, praise and song were offered to teach, worship, and lead the congregation. Such is the purpose and reason for the Worship Choir at Lake Athens.
Singing each Sunday in worship as well as working on special music selections, the choir provides an opportunity for everyone to worship together and grow, not just as musicians, but also as friends and family in Christ. Easter and Christmas provide two focal points for new music and the choir is regularly scheduled to sing specials in the worship service.
Our Sunday afternoon practices are a time to not only join in fellowship but also learn about music technique and theory while being challenged to examine the Gospel Message and Spiritual Life behind the music we sing. New or prospective members are encouraged to attend a practice time and see for themselves how you can worship the Lord through the music ministry.
The choir meets weekly from August-May at two points:
Sunday Mornings // 9 am
Sunday Afternoons // 4:30 pm
